Anti-Aging Micro-Needling

Can hundreds of tiny needle pricks actually improve the appearance of your skin?

The short answer is yes. Microneedling, which is also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy, can offer benefits if you desire to rejuvenate your skin. This procedure helps treat damage from sun exposure, smooth wrinkles and reduce the appearance of acne scars.

After the application of a numbing agent, micro-needling is performed with a pen device that creates tiny holes in the top layer of the skin. A serum containing hyaluronic acid is applied topically to the skin surface. This “controlled injury” process opens up your skin with tiny tears allowing the serum to be able to penetrate deeper into the skins dermis layer. Then, healing promotes collagen production, which helps fill in and smooth out wrinkles and fine lines.

Besides smoothing wrinkles and sun-damaged skin, acne scars can be significantly reduced as well as the appearance of other skin abnormalities. Although micro-needling is most commonly used on the face and neck for facial rejuvenation, it can also be used on the stomach, thighs  and other body parts to smooth out stretch marks, reduce the appearance of scars, reduce the appearance of cellulite and even stimulate hair regrowth.

For optimum results Dr. Shulkin recommends 4-6 treatments occurring once a month followed by quarterly maintenance sessions. Packages are available.
